While the snowy conditions forced the cancellation of SouthDownsBikes 34-kilometre on Sunday Saturday’s 18-kilometre event was completed at Storrington, Sussex.


Doug Dewey. Photograph by KimroyAlthough very cold conditions were dry allowing Doug Dewey (Team Tor 2000) to open his 2012 account with a good win. The 2011 Espoirs time trial champion managed to trim 2011 winner Wouter Sybrandy’s course and event record of 24-31 by two seconds. Sigma Sport’s Sybrandy had to settle for second place this time out.


Veteran Peter Tadros (In Gear Quickvit-Trainsharp) took third place. Sybrandy admitted that he found the time trial”a bit of a struggle” after a hard week’s long training rides in Lanzarote.


In the Tour of Quator former Cycling Time Trials Scholarship rider Adam Blythe (BMC) finished on the heels of Tom Boonen to claim second place on the opening stage.


In Majorca, former time triallist and GHS competitor Andrew Fenn made a wining debut with Omega Pharma-Quickstep winning the one-day Trofeo Palma.
